The opportunity cost of the Iraq War

Quite aside from the appalling human cost of the war in Iraq, according to a recent article, It's only $300 billion, in the Washington Post, the economic cost will soon exceed the predicted cost of the Kyoto Protocol to the US economy. The irony is that this is what Dubya said at the G8 Meeting in March 2001: "I made it clear to our friends and allies that the methodology of the current protocol is one that, if implemented, would severely affect economic growth in America."
So it's not just blood for oil ... it's climate too.

Republican Imperialism and Adventurism has to stop somewhere, and it had better - otherwise we will have another misadventure in our hands soon - IRAN ! Just look at the official estimate of Iraqis who have died AFTER U.S. occupied Iraq - at last count, it stood close to 35,000. Unofficially, it would atleast be double that number. Again, I would like to emphasise one of my favourite points - governments should take responsibility for the wars they launch, and are solely responsible for the deaths caused amongst common citizens. When America cares for every one of their soldiers lost in an unjustified war, who is going to care for the innocent Iraqis - men, women, and children - who lost their lives in this stupid war with no reason ? I hope Dubya goes, and goes soon. And, I pray the next Democratic President is not tempted at regime-changes around the world and instead focuses on world economy, climate, environment, education, employment and AIDS.
